The Origins:
The philosophy the group embraced upon meeting was to make music that all could enjoy. During the early days of the group they could only be described as a ‘jam band’ playing under names like The Smoky Duels and The High Five. Then one day, when the spirit of the giant Myrtle – the last of the pre-historic turtles – king of his kind, was soaring overhead, he picked up on a curious sound and swooped down to find the funky band…..
“Damn,” he said, "those are some mighty, delicious, jams.”
“You there,” he commanded in his loud booming voice. “You are the chosen players who are worthy enough to use my name. Your music echoes the long lost ancient song of the turtles. You must pay tribute to my BROTHERS in the sea by bearing their name upon your chest wherever you travel.”
Thus the bands name was decided, Sea Based Turtles, and their mission - to pay tribute to and spread the funky sound of the turtle soul across the land using only the finest of funky rhythms, soulful melodies and hip-hop beats.
The tribute to the turtle, the album Real Resonations is soon to be released.
The Band
ARTIST: Sea Based Turtles are currently blasting a unique blend of alternative rock, funk and hip-hop and have been doing so for five years after the six members met each other through a cosmic twist of fate. With their debut album imminent the band are working on fresh material which promises to be their best yet, combining funky beats with fast paced vocals while still retaining some sensitivity with silky smooth bass lines mixed with fresh hip-hop rhythms!
